Surface’s famed annual Open, the Street Art Festival, sadly marked the end of my time in the Nottingham arts scene.

The bustling opening night featured live music by Rock DJ Stiff Kittens, whose funky beats set the tone for this epic six-week long show of work from both established and amateur local Street artists.

I remember coming into Surface as a new volunteer and watching the preparations for Street Art take place from a distance, wondering how an event like this came to be. Little did I know that I would have the opportunity to contribute to the organisation, curation, installation for that very show, not one year later.

This exhibition was the perfect commemoration for my time in the Nottingham arts scene. Thank you, Surface, for another incredible exhibition and a fantastic two years.
